Shahnameh –
The Book of Kings – Persian/Iranian Epic

Originally commissioned for the British Museum, Xanthe’s performances of Shahnameh have expanded thanks to honorariums from the Smithsonian, Harvard Museum, Adverse Camber, Magic of Persia, Iran Heritage and Asia House.

This wonders – full epic is a collage of the heroic exploits of Rustam (an Iranian Hercules), his beloved horse Rahksh and the magical phoenix-like Simorgh.

My head is still buzzing with the stories you shared, Xanthe. I could not have been more pleased with the content and quality of your performance. It was the perfect complement to our small Shahnameh installation.

Xanthe was brilliant and gave one of the most compelling museum programs I have ever attended and I’ve been to plenty!
